Welcome to Troop 161

Boy Scout Troop 161 is based in Leander, Texas and is celebrating over 30 years of Scouting Excellence! Today the troop is home to over 40 Scouts at various points along the path to Eagle Scout.

We are part of the North Shore District in the Capitol Area Council. We invite you to come visit us and share in the Scouting experience. Our troop meetings are on Monday evenings (except holidays) from 7-8:30pm. All troop meetings are held at the site of our chartering sponsor – Leander United Methodist Church. Outdoor activities are planned monthly and include troop campouts, district activities, summer and winter camps, and merit badge events.

Our Troop is Boy Led and Parent Guided. Without commitment from the parents, we would not have a troop. While you do not have to commit to being a leader, you can commit to being an active Scouting parent. We believe that Scouting is a way of life, not just a meeting and a campout. We need you to help us make this a full circle in your son’s life.

Troop 161’s website was developed by one of our Scouts in 2008 and continues to be maintained by the Scouts in our troop. In addition to providing leadership opportunities for our Scouts, the purpose of our website includes:

  • Keeping our Scouts and Scouting families informed.
  • Letting our community know about our Troop, its activities and objectives.
  • To inform future members about the opportunities available in Troop 161.
